Rüsselsheim

Het hoofdkantoor van Opel staat in het Duitse Rüsselsheim, waar de onderneming ruim 110 jaar geleden werd opgericht. In 2002 werd een recordbedrag van €750 miljoen uitgetrokken voor een grondige vernieuwing van de productiefaciliteiten, die nu tot de meest geavanceerde ter wereld behoren. De jaarlijkse capaciteit van de nieuwe fabriek is 180.000 auto's. Eén van de auto's die hier gemaakt worden, is de succesvolle Insignia. In Rüsselsheim werken in totaal zo'n 15.600 mensen.

Opel: thuis in Europa en de wereld

Opel is een van de grootste autofabrikanten in Europa en maakt sinds augustus 2017 deel uit van het Franse automotive-bedrijf Groupe PSA. In 2016 heeft Opel ongeveer 1,2 miljoen voertuigen verkocht. Het bedrijf werd in 1862 opgericht door Adam Opel in Rüsselsheim, Duitsland, en heeft al 155 jaar lang zijn hoofdkantoor in de geboortestad van het merk gevestigd.

Testen en proefritten zijn een essentieel onderdeel van de ontwikkeling van voertuigen sinds auto's zijn ontworpen en gebouwd. Het Opel-testcentrum werd in 1964 geopend in de buurt van het hoofdkantoor van Opel in Rüsselsheim. Het testcentrum is voortdurend verbeterd om de beste omstandigheden te bieden voor de ontwikkeling van veilige, milieuvriendelijke, dynamische en betrouwbare auto's. Elke factor die de rijprestaties van uw auto beïnvloedt, wordt op een groot aantal verschillende banen getest. Geavanceerde technische faciliteiten maken het nauwkeurig testen en meten van factoren mogelijk, zoals duurzaamheid, emissies, veiligheid, prestaties en verbruik.

Test track overview

On the test tracks theory meets reality. And good ideas get separated from the not so good. The test tracks include:

 

  • Skid pad for testing cornering ability
  • 4.8 km high-speed circle track allows speeds of up to 250 km/h without lateral forces
  • Comfort and noise measurement track to ascertain rolling tire noise, interior noise and driving comfort
  • Torture track brings the truth to light over 900 meters of potholes and humps, the “washboard”, cobbles and pavé
  • Hill track puts steering, transmission and brakes to the test with gradients of up to 30 %
  • The endurance test track offers many different road surfaces including asphalt and cobblestones, waves and numerous curves, plus gravel, mud, forest and dust trails, a water or salt water bath and two loading ramps
  • The performance area is perfect for proving vehicle dynamics or for driver training
  • The handling track goes through 16 curves and hollows, uphill and downhill
